My Approach

Therapy is about helping you handle change.

My goal is to personalize the process and make you as comfortable as possible. My style is your style, and we will work together to make necessary change happen. We have a mutual goal of getting you the support and help you need. That doesn't mean you won't do work - you will have homework, and I will keep you accountable for going through the process, but I will adapt your plan to meet your style and needs and keep it as fun as possible.

I have always deeply valued human connection. Meaningful connection must come from a place of authenticity and compassion. I can offer you support and guidance so that you can discover the solutions within yourself.


I love integrating creative approaches into session and self-care practices.


We all still have things to learn. As a former teacher, I utilize psycho-education as a means to understand the process of change.

I view counseling from a wellness approach instead of an illness approach.

This kind of therapy aids in development of personal coping strategies that target change for unhelpful patterns in the way you think. I will help you start (or remember how) to talk to yourself effectively and make better choices and decisions.


I utilize a person-centered approach, following a theory that states that each person has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change. 

I trust your human potential and will provide empathy and unconditional positive regard to help facilitate change…

…but that does not mean that I won’t challenge you and bring about awareness of something you have overlooked or avoided.

Our skills as thinkers change over time and situations. The ability to think clearly and rationally, understanding the logical connection between ideas is paramount to being confident in your decisions and actions.
